The Super Duty has always been the leader of Ford’s truck segment regarding towing and sheer power. The entire Super Duty lineup is expected to be revamped in 2016, and the Ford F-250 model is among them. The F-150’s bigger brother, the 2017 Ford F-250 will have unique sheet metal while its cab section will be heavily borrowed from the F-150. The carmaker will adopt all-aluminum body to cut the overall weight of the vehicle, but they will need to do it carefully so that this model remains tough.
Apparently, the entire Super Duty lineup will lose up to 350 pounds depending on the model and but its body will be stiffer than the outgoing model. Expect to see many small upgrades that will add up to a considerably changed vehicle for the 2017 model year, for the better of course. Its interior design will be refined and polished, it will be loaded with latest technological features, but it seems that the engine department comes with no changes at all. Keep reading for more details.
At the first blush, it is obvious that the carmaker has changed a lot on the upcoming Super Duty lineup. The front fascia adopted newly designed, massive grille and new quad-beam headlights which are exclusive to the class. Also new are side spotlights with LED technology on side mirrors. Those who work past the dusk are not forgotten either since the carmaker illuminated the cargo box with new LED units. At the back, we can notice changes also. With a taller pair of taillights and Super Duty logo stamped in the aluminum, the newcomer looks great from the back. To conclude our story about the exterior design of the 2017 Ford F-250, we will only say that it looks absolutely stunning and bold, even though it is entry-level. Higher trim level models come with added features and even more interesting details for exterior.
Well, it seems that Ford wanted to save money and time when it comes to the cabin as well because everything appears to be borrowed from the F-150. We don’t mind it at all since we’ve always been fond of F-150’s cabin, especially what it offers after the last redesign. The good news is that the newcomer includes all of the improvements of the F-150 starting from the high-quality, low-sheen materials that provide decent level of quality in combination with a toughness that is needed for this type of vehicle.
Also borrowed are the TFT display, SYNC technology, and of course, ergonomic placement of controls and switches. The differences between the F-150 and the 2017 Ford F-250 are easily noticed. The newcomer benefits from the relocated trailer brake controller and has optionally auxiliary switches. All of the electronic gadgets inside of the cabin are great. Seven cameras, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, voice recognition plus many others that are on the list.
Ford is preparing no great surprises in the engine department. Well, there are some novelties, though. The 6.2-liter gasoline V-8 and a 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V-8 will be carried over, but there are some whispers that 6.8-liter gasoline V-10 might join the engine lineup. The carmaker is yet to confirm this information. There are no any details of what the carmaker has up its sleeve when it comes to torque and horsepower numbers.
2017 Ford F-250 Release Date
If we take into account the weight loss and the fact that the aforementioned engines will provide more power, for sure, we expect to see better performance results. Ford is pretty quiet when it comes to transmissions too, but a new TorqueShift-G is highly anticipated in our F-250. As the release date approaches additional details will be offered, more info should be available in the next few months because the launch is expected for fall of this year.
King Ranch And Lariat
Among the most important figures that we still do not know are the tow and payload numbers. Depending on the model this could go easily over 16,000 lbs which surely is enough for most jobs you will do with it. The payload also mainly depends on the chosen model and goes to more than 4000 lbs in some cases which are very impressive.
Prices And Trims
At this point, we cannot say the exact release date or the price of the newcomer, but we assume that the price will be slightly increased over the previous version. We will dare to say that the 2017 Ford F-250 could start at $33,000, this is for the Regular Cab version, but we will see if this comes true. Different cab configurations and higher trim levels will cost more, and the Lariat version comes with starting price of over $45,000. For the King Ranch be prepared to give more than $55,000 while the top level Platinum starts at about $63,000.
